Just checking in to say I had laprascopy to remove my gall bladder not long ago. I didn't need pain killers after the first day and was at work by the following week. It really wasn't that bad. Something doesn't sound right to me. Be it pain tolerance or a really good doctor I don't know but my experience sounds far different from hers. She should definitely go get things looked at IMHO.

Well I had it done 8 years ago with the best surgeon in the area and I was sore for almost two weeks.............course I almost died before they figured out what it was. I also (by choice) gave birth naturally so I have a high pain tolerence and yet it was still sore from that surgery. I don't remember having to keep the pain killers up after a week/week and a half though. We are all worried about Mooney

The doc took out the staples and re-upped her pain meds. I guess we just wait and see...

He didn't think so, at least! It reassured her, but I have less confidence, especially since he didn't address some other more personal issues either. But hey - as long as she heals and starts getting some pain relief, it will be good!

So, I just had this done at the end of March. I actually had my gallbladder and appendix both removed. It took me at least 10 days to really not be in a lot of pain. But, I was back to work in just over 2 weeks.
Really, I thought for the 1st week, at least, that I was in the most pain of my entire life. I hadn't reacted well to the anastesia...I had a weird reaction to the medication that just added to it. As Mel stated, they pump your entire abdomen full of air to separate your abdominal tissue from the organs inside. I literally felt like I had been hit by a truck.
Each person's pain tolerance is different. And, if she had staples, my thought is that could add to the pain. Literally, 4 of my 5 incisions were glued shut and I had stitches in one so it was fairly comfortable (as much as that could be comfortable). Also, if she isn't getting rest, the body has a much more difficult time recovering. If you add to that fact that sheer exhaustion can magnify any pain, frustration, and any other emotion, I am sure this has been tough on her.
I hope that with the removal of the staples and some adjustments to her pain meds, she is recovering. I'll be thinking of her!!
