My new house has mostly original windows from the 1950's and they are drafty. Replacement windows are going to cost big bucks. I thought about it and thought about it and decided to suck it up, buy only necessary groceries and gas and replace the windows. So, the windows will be replaced the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I had to put half the money down almost a month ago and the budget has been tight, very tight, but it feels so awesome to be able to take care of my house, to know that I can make things better, to know it is my choice and I can do it. After the windows, a dishwasher will be small change. Silly, I'm elated over Windows. I guess that qualifies me as an official grown-up now!

If you need any info or have any questions let me know. I sell vinyl replacement windows for a living and I am not trying to sell to you so you know you will get a straight answer.
Congrats on the windows....I love mine.
If you purchased Energy Star qualified windows...keep your receipt for tax time.

The attic is well insulated. I'll have to look into siding soon. The house is cinder block and the walls are cold. It feels really good be able to take care of it though.
