I thought you were exempt from birthdays. Oh well - do something fun that doesn't involve fixing toilets.

Oh well - do something fun that doesn't involve fixing toilets. how 'bout saving my stupidass ex's life? rotten bastard overdosed on cold medicine (i didn't know that at the time) and called me slurring and making no sense......so i called his neighbor to go check on him, and sure enough, he was pretty freakin' out of it. hallucinations and everything. what a moron.

Belated Happy Birthday, amola!
(And has your mom remembered by now? Or did you remind her?)

i got an email from her the next day ... (vicki is my sister - her bday is the day before mine)
Amy, I had completely forgotten your and Vicki's birthday. so a belated Happy birthday to both of you. How are you feeling? Is the hip o.k. now? Mom and Dad
that's it. nothing else. not even an "i'm sorry". hell, even my husband's parents sent me cards...... i even talked to her this weekend and she still didn't mention it. she didn't even send my brothers cards when they turned 50, so i shouldn't be surprised but it still stings.

I am going to be one of those bad moms, I think. Birthdays just aren't that big to me... I like people to say "Happy Birthday!" to me - just the words no gift or party or card (in fact I really am not into cards they are a waste of money) - but I then TELL people to say it, cause I don't expect them to remember it, and I never remember anyone else's! I remember my kids' NOW - cause they live at home, but 25 years from now? In my day-to-day life I just might not even NOTICE what day it is! I don't think her not acknowledging it more than that means she doesn't care - it just means birthdays aren't that big to her. Aren't there other things that matter to either of you that the other one just isn't interested in? Try not to let it bother you too much (although it still does sting when something that matters to you isn't acknowledged!) Which reminds me - HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!! (Sorry, I am just not on as much!)

the thing that is the most irritating about it is this........
she is so freakin' obsessed with geneology....i mean, OBSESSED. like, i can call her because i have a question about, oh, i don't know, something mundane, like "did you get hit with that snowstorm?" and she'll go off on a 45 minute tangent about how her 42nd great grandfather's cousin's uncle's sister's kid's dog got lost in the snow. and then she'll talk about how they have to go to the library (the geneology one) to do research for so-and-so because so-and-so is actually my cousin's uncle's sister's kid's nephew's half-brother and oh of course you remember him!!!
i told her several years ago that everyone in our family (ie, all of my siblings) would be a hell of a lot happier if she would pay as much attention to the living relatives as she paid to the dead ones. she didn't like it, but it's true.
seriously, you can ask her any birthday of someone who is dead, and she'll tell you. ask her about her own kids or even grandkids - she has no clue.

That was most entertaining. I know it irritates you, but to read it from the outside........its pretty funny!
