The Timberline Lodge requested Kubrick change the sinister Room 217 of King's novel to 237, so customers would stay in their own room 217 fearlessly. Interesting........... But you did not answer my question. Did you see dead people. Imo , that is Jack's best movie. Fucking brilliant. I should preface that the book was inspired by the Stanley hotel in Estes Park Colorado...that is where I have eaten... Actually, I was with my exh (still married)...we were in CO for a wedding and took a side trip of our own because it was our 10 year wedding anniv...we renewed our vows (yeah, that lasted) and stayed at a bed and breakfast there... hotels.about.com/od/hauntedhotelsatoz/p/hau_stanley.htmFilming took place at both Pinewood Studios and Elstree Studios in England. The set for the Overlook Hotel was then the largest ever built. It included a full recreation of the exterior of the hotel, as well as all of the interiors. A few exterior shots were done at Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood in Oregon. They are noticeable because the hedge maze is missing. The interiors are based on those of the Ahwahnee hotel in Yosemite National Park. The Timberline Lodge requested Kubrick change the sinister Room 217 of King's novel to 237, so customers would stay in their own room 217 fearlessly. I have been to the Timberline Lodge in Mount Hood as well.

One hint... opposite of noisy... second hint...director was John Ford...it won 2 oscars. The Quiet Man. Wouldn't have got it without your hints. I hated that movie, mostly because I loved the short story. I don't understand why anyone would cast John Wayne in that role. The character in the story is humble, shy, soft-spoken, pretty much everything that John Wayne is not. He would have been better as the blowhard brother-in-law. Terrible casting. Didn't get it. "You're the first man in five years who didn't tell me I look like Veronica Lake inside of a minute". "You look better than Veronica Lake".

Lloyd Dobbler ~ Say Anything...
____________________________________ Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us... In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain... and an athlete...and a basket case...and a princess...and a criminal... Does that answer your question?
