Anyone ever experience this? If so why and what did you do to stop it? Many thanks.

I had a serious case last winter, so bad in fact I lost my driving privilages for a month. The dr thought it was going to end up permanent.
I tried several different medications, but nothing worked. It ended up being a side effect from a virus I had and just had to run its course.
See if you can get phenegren (sp) for the nausea.

Fixed it with antibiotics for a bad sinus infection.

both my parents have had this. resulting in an inner ear infection. have been on meds for quite some time now. doc said it could take over a year to completely clear the system. mom didn't drive for more than 3 months.

There are "exercises" you can do to get it to clear up faster. Not sure exactly but it involves lying on a bed with your head hanging tilted in certain ways so that the crystals that have formed inside the cochlea slowly move and shift inside the inner ear canal, so that they are no longer triggering the little hair cells in there and telling your cerebellum that you are off balance... but you have to make time to do them every day. It also depends which ear is worse, which is opposite to the side you usually fall over towards. My cousin had this and it took months to clear up.

No ENT (ear, nose, throat) issues. They think it was due to dehydration and somethig to do with ketones. Have an Rx called Meclizine. Hopefully wont ever need it. Thanks for the input here and in pm's. I really appreciate it. That truly sucked.

Maybe it is stress? Stress can really do some weird things to you. I would get rashes all over me. Also, my eyes sight would get really messed up. It can effect you profoundly. what exactly is this? twice in the past week i have gotten really dizzy, hot flashes nasea etc.. the first time it happened i was driving so i thought i might have gotten car sick, but the second time i was at work.. i had to lay down on my office floor for almost an hour before i could get up.

Or, did you feel you had anxiety? I have had anxiety attacks that render me useless for driving. Maybe it is stress? Stress can really do some weird things to you. I would get rashes all over me. JC~~ Vertigo is different than panic attacks, fainting or passing out. Does the room spin in circles really fast and feel like its rising up? Thats a sign of vertigo.....couple that with hot flash, clammy, nausea and a slew of other symptoms. I could not get off the ground with my cheek pressed to the floor for over an hour even with paramedics at my apartment and then two more hours laying like that in the e/r waiting to be medicated when I had it. It is so freaky. I sent you a link in a pm. Let me know if you want more info or to chat further.

I first had a spell of vertigo when I was pregnant and have had a couple of bouts since. I was prescribed Antivert. It worked well for me. Perhaps that is because it knocked me out.

Yes, if you are unconscous, you aren't going to be dizzy. Or anything else, for that matter.
