i don't get it either. i actually don't get why people don't just get whatever they contributed during the marriage (percentage-wise) of the settlement. (for example, in the case where one partner made $800K and the other $200K, an 80/20 split.) it seems really unfair.

It seems like a relatively small percentage of his overall fortune, though, especially when you look at her raising their daughter, and what lifestyle that daughter would have lived in had she stayed with her daddy... It's not like the guy is going broke or anything!
Shey
PS oh to have that much money TO fight over!

It's the dissolution of marriage settlement only. Yeah, it's a drop in the bucket to him but I think that's beside the point. Is this someone who really requires spousal support?

yeah it shouldnt matter that he has a ton of money, it should still be HIS!! less than four years is too short a marriage for her to get anything... except of course child support.

If he had 200 million when he married her and she had 4 million then i say they are each worth 102 million.

he should have thought about that before he married her. he's a dumbass for not being smarter about his money. and you think he deserves the millions he has from being in a rock and roll band?
I deserve the money more than the both of them, but that's not the point. it's all about actions, reactions, and consequences.

he should have thought about that before he married her. he's a dumbass for not being smarter about his money. Because people knowingly marry liars, cheats, and users, right?

In the music business (or any other business for that matter) it all boils down to what they are willing to pay you. In terms of strictly business, yes, he deserves his millions. Like their music or hate it, Lennon and McCartney turned out more hits than any other song writing duo. (I think) I guess it's fair to label him a dumbass as far as risking marriage. I'd be quicker to label her a golddigger though.
