My Town is weird It is 90 percent Mexican maybe more I was in the *Big Town* where I have my class and I went to a store to buy a jacket(A Gift card from one of my sisters) The Store was filled with White WomenA Hundred or so It was amazing I had a very good feeling, being around all those White women instead of all the Spanish Women where I live. I was looking at them in Wonder When I checked out one of them knew me, because She has taken my class before So She was happy to see me and I ave my Card to the checker. That was a good day  Now I am sad Back home in my Town 90 to 95 Percent Mexican I feel like I am in Indian country The lone White Man on the Prairie |

Yanno, I spent a few months in that part of the state and I have to tell you - the ratio is high, but nowhere NEAR as high as you portray it. Spend a week or two in El Paso - you'll notice the difference...  |

I don't see what the deal is though.............I lived in Alhambra where I was the rare white person in the grocery store.
The women are beautiful. Go get yourself a spanish senorita!

If you marry someone of a diffrent race You marry thier FAMILY too One of my Sisters married a Mexican At a Birthday party with 50 people and you and 1 or 2 others are the only white's there Is not a good feeling even if they are nice You leave after about 10 minutes or so |

That I don't understand... If they are nice to you, who cares if you are the only white person there? Large families are FUN! Surely in a group that large you can find someone who you can enjoy spending time with? PLUS - not all Latinos HAVE large families. You are painting every person you meet with same brush, without getting to know them as individuals. I think this is dangerous ground you are walking on, Freckles.

Oh - and Freckles - imagine BEING of a minority race - and having that "everyone is different from me" feeling all the time. Having band-aids that don't come in your skin tone. Having your kids play with dolls that don't look like them. Having signs and schools and everyone talking a language you didn't grow up with. Having traditions no one else near you shares. LOTS of people survive this just fine. You could too. Open up and be willing to get to know people- you may be surprised. Plus, there are a LOT of wonderful things people from other "races" or backgrounds can share with you, if you let them.

I have gone a few dates with a "black" woman... we get along well.... many places we go she is the only "black" person there.... I don't think she really notices.

In GA where my exh and I lived, we were often the only white people there. It was definately a new experince for me, but I used it to gain perspective for how other people feel that deal with that on a regular basis.
One place didn't serve us bc we were white. That I totally disagree with.
