Ojar saved my life, no exageration, and I made some friends there who I am still very close with. It wasn't just a www site to me. We all shared so much with each other........It really was one of the most meaningful experiences I have had on the net and quite honestly, in my life . I learned a great deal about relationships and myself through reaching out and sharing. I am a very private person but I have learned to let that go to some extent.
Just the other day while driving , I felt a pang of missing as we really did have a good bunch of people there for awhile. Yes there was some negativity and I had a very bad experience there as well but I choose to remember the positive side and be forever thankful that I had somewhere to go to find support during my bottom.
Ojar , quite simply, changed my life.

yea but the sad thing is, for some of us we just want it to be a memory.. for others it is still that google search in hopes of finding someone else that is going though the same thing at the same time. Just cause we cast off the shore.. does not mean we should forget those that are just finding their way to it. And THAT is why I am so sad about ojar not being up. Michael did respond, though, and as he has no time to monitor the site, he will not be bringing it back up, at least anytime soon.

Just a thought -- since ojar still does come up on the first page when you google "divorce support", I wonder if Michael might be willing to link the "Online Relationship Message Boards" to here, rather than the now closed ojar forum.

Good idea! I will ask! (except then I will have to go back to my vanilla posting, hate to freak out newbies with my political/moral views! ;D)

its the hassle of having to maintain the servers.. the software.. etc. When you run the whole show it can get pretty costly and time consuming. Plus you still have to be super mod when the lower mods start fightin

But there's also the element of deception, as well. I personally think he knew from the get-go that he wasn't going to re-open the site. The way he handled it was just a tad underhanded...

I don't know. Maybe he's just looking for a good idea as to how to revive it without running into the same wall? I spose that's a little naive but I have a hard time judging him. That place was a godsend to me when I really needed it.

I'm with Phyx on this one. For a site that did so much for the majority of us, the end state seemed more like being shooed out to go sit on the curb to tire of waiting for the grand re-opening.

I cancelled my subscription via PayPal (not hard to do). I'm sad to heare that Ojar isn't returning, but not surprised as I got the feeling that Michael felt he was being held back in his own moving on by maintaining it. Still, I think it would be good if it was feasible to link Ojar to here, in case there are people out there who really need a place to come for support....I know ojar really helped me, at my very lowest point, and I am very grateful that HugThat is here so I can keep in contact with the great people I met there.

I was refunded all the membership money, without requesting it.
Michael did say he approached several ojarians about helping run it - they were too busy. He also didn't have the time to deal with the people trying to cause trouble. I don't think he intended to drop it - he just didn't get any help, and other projects took over.
He didn't want to hook to here, because there were still so many people using the old threads in their healing process.
