So here is how Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and today went.....
Thursday/Friday:
Boarded a plane at 11:00 PM to go to New York City....Mind you we are supposed to take off at 11:15 PM, DID NOT HAPPEN!!! But still somehow, we make it to NYC by 5:20 AM, we are supposed to land at 5:35 PM, BRAVO to the pilot, who got us there about 15 mins, even with taking off late! So a GOOD friend of mine, Steve, is supposed to meet the plane, didn't make it until almost 8 AM, which is when my brother is supposed to land with his Family...Actually, not a big deal, since he is coming in from Jersey to see me! Brother gets there with his family, and we head to the hotel, via subway! We get to the hotel to find out that we are less the 2 blocks from Ground Zero (WTC!!!)!! Our hotel is looking right at another friend office, that is completely GONE! Had he not left when he did, 2 mins later, he would have been dead (another story for another day!) We find out that we can't check in yet, so we have them hold our bags and my brother, sister in law, me and the kids go to a street fair about 5 blocks from hotel. Mom and husband stay to take a break. We then met with the husband and mom and went to staton island on the ferry, for free! Came back, checked in to hotel, the Marriott, DAMN!!!! Sweet rooms, sweet beds, all around NICE! Everyone BUT me, take a nap~! Then we head out to fireworks! If anyone has never seen the east river fireworks, Sometime in your lifetime GO!!!
Saturday:
Woke up early, after being out VERY late, Got everyone together and headed to Central Park Zoo, Got totally rained on!! I mean nothing like I have seen for years, and of course we had NO umbrella! So we look at the gift shop and they were $25 a piece, YIKES!!! We passed, and then found a street vendor and got them for $10 for a HUGE umbrella and $5 for a small one. So we totally bought 1 big and one small. And then not two blocks laters, they were 5 dollars a piece for the big ones.....DOH!!! We then went to Time Square, Grand Central Station, and, yes I even went to the top of the Rockfeller Building, and saw all the buildings from there. Went back took a break. Later that evening (9 PM) left the baby with my mom and Hubby, me, brother, sil, and 3 of their kids went back to times square! Wow!!!! The difference between day and night was amazing!!!
Sunday:
Woke up, met the big brother, went to pick up rental cars, picked up families, and head out to Philly. Stop to see independence hall, the liberty bell, and some other fun things! Had my first philly cheese steak sandwhich.....DAMN!!! Took the tour of the independence hall, and a few others, and then came the RAIN!!! I am sooo sick of rain!! After that, we were able to look at the place that Rocky did the stair scene......AWESOME!!! Leave there to head for DC! Let me tell you, long drive. I have never been to a "service stop". In utah, we have rest areas, but all that is available there is rest rooms. These places have food, restroom, and gas....DANG!!! that has been interesting. We got to the hotel in Cheverly, MD... but let me tell you, I would take Marriott over Howard Johnson ANYDAY ANYTIME!!!! Had I known what I do know, that would have been were we would stay all along. Oh Well!! We are here, it is late, and there is a laundry right up the street!
Tomorrow and the next day are going around DC. And then the next day, Mom, Mike, baby, My niece, and me head to Maine, and to my dad's memorial! It is finally HERE!!! Les then a week away, and I can't wait!
So anyway, wanted to let those know that I made it OK, and am having a good time. Wish I could see you all....
