I think this is another year that proves exactly how undeserving of the hype the Iowa caucuses are. (And I bet there are plenty of other elections that prove that, although I'm too lazy to look it up.) I don't pay a lot of attention to the stats, but a friend of mine does. He maintains (and I believe him) that Hillary is polling strongly enough in the states that matter (California, New York, Florida) that regardless of last week's outcome, she'll have the nomination wrapped up by March. Here's a quote from his blog ( schmidlap.blogspot.com/) for ya: And Huckabee is the kind of guy who figures to do well in the backwoods. But the guy is bona fide stark ravin' nuts, and nutbags don't do well when held up to the media glare in the major markets.

The Iowa caucuse only gets so much attention because it's first.

I was wondering , JimB, if you had heard any of the conspiracy talk coming out of the New Hampshire Caucus? There's one going aroung Fark that's kind of interesting. Apparently, the Dems were running out of ballots yesterday. There was some speculation that many Republican voters had registered as independants and then cast votes for Hillary in an effort to split Dem support between Barack and Clinton. I thought that it was an interesting (although rather unlikely) idea.

So that theory don't fly with me. If there was any fraud or conspiracy taking place I'd say it's more likely Hilary and her vast power, influence and contacts had their hand in the outcome rather than the GOP faithful. Hilary is power hungry and hell bent on becoming president. I believe she will stop at nothing to insure this happens.

She will stop at nothing except to break down and get the sympathy vote which happened to work in NH. Not that I am for or against anyone at this point. None of them on either side have convinced me to vote for them! Just sayin!

But I spose I am a bit naive when it comes to the fairer sex.

I'm off the McCain bandwagon, the guy just doesn't connect with me, at all.
As of right now, I support Fred Thompson. These words from Thompson are what has inspired me to support him:
That's what the Reagan coalition was based on. To say the Reagan coalition is dead is like saying the Constitution is dead. Because our Founding Fathers told us in the Declaration of Independence that our basic rights come not from government but from God. They laid out in our Constitution the notion that too much power in too few hands is a bad idea and that a government big enough and powerful enough to give anything to you is big enough and powerful enough to take anything away from you. Those are fundamental principles and notions on which we built a great nation, a willingness to sacrifice for the freedom and liberty of other people around the world because we knew that it made us freer and made us safer here in our own country. Free people doing free things, and the magic that comes out of that. Basic fundamental principles.
