YIKES!
Jobs - college student (endlessly) babysitter, nanny, Sears customer service/then credit card hawker, receptionist, nuclear soil tester/concrete tester, secretary, after-school program assistant then temporary school director, answering service phone operator, order processor/editor for a publishing company, secretary at a steam plant, secretary at a medical school, stay at home mom working part time at a remote encoding center (post office work), secretary at a pharmacy school, and now secretary at an electrical and computer engineering dept.

Second thing I'd do is buy another house. 4 - Probably about the same, except for that whole divorce thing... 5 - Finish that damn bathroom and start on the kitchen!

oh crud - missed the million dollar thing (and gdgross, you missed my question!)
First, pay off all bills. Then I would give 100,000 to each of mine and Harry's parents, plus another 20,000 to each of our sibs. Then I would give 10,000 to every kid in the family - mine and neices and nephews. I would then arrange a trip around the world for my family - paying for it in advance so we can take longer than the 10 days. Whatever is left I would give away to people I knew needed it with the remainder to charity. Some of my friends would be as happy as me, I think.

Whoops. 6 - I've got to the point where my guitar habit pays for itself and even makes me some money on the side - though far from being enough to live on. And shey, you put me to shame with your million dollar answer. What the hell do I need another house for, anyway?

1.) what are all of the jobs you've had in your lifetime so far?
Have been an editor and writer for 16 years -- at various magazines and newspapers as well doing freelance work. Right after college I was a hostess at a Bob's Big Boy once.
2.) if you could live anywhere in the world (money and obligations being no object)
Lucerne, Switzerland
3.) if you were given one million dollars with the understanding that you had to spend it within 10 days or lose it, how would you spend it? (you cannot save it in any kind of bank account or invest it in stocks or bonds.)
Half to my favorite charities (Salvation Army, Humane Society of the United States, Farm Sanctuary, and The Brooke)
Half for me and my parents -- especially getting a nice place to live for my mom.
4.) would you say you are doing better or worse than your parents were when they were your age?
In some ways better, in some ways worse. Too involved to answer here.
5.) name one goal you want to accomplish before the end of 2008.
Feel at peace again.
6) What goal did you have 5 years ago that you have met?
I don't know.
7) where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Still too early to say. Until recently, I thought I'd be married, living with the ex and his kids, whereever the Navy stationed him. I'm still at beginning of rebuilding my life, I don't really know. I would like to be happily married in five years, but I'm not counting on it.
8.) What do you most love about yourself right now?
What I've always loved most about myself -- my compassion, honesty, and loyalty.
9.) What is your first thought when you wake up and what do you typically think about before you fall asleep at night?
Alas, I still think of *him.* First thought in the morning. Last thought at night. God knows I wish I didn't, but that's the way it is.
10) What is the most important thing you hope to pass to your children for them to take into adulthood?
I don't have any children, and at my age, I probably never will. If I had children, the number one thing I'd hope to teach them for adulthood is to care about something greater than just themselves.
11) What small thing/s do you do on a regular basis that you think make the world (either at large, or your immediate surroundings) a better place?
