Hey Freckles,
I don't know as I agree with you that if Obama wins, that it will "destroy" the US, ...however...
I agree that he will raise taxes, no matter what he says...it is the way of the democratic party. The democratic party, historically, is VERY supportive of social programs. Which, on the surface is good, but eventually, is very expensive.
Don't get me wrong, I am not a republican zombie either.
What I want to see, not hear, from these candidates that say they are best suited to run our country, is facts. I don't want to hear Obama say that "we need change", and I don't want to hear McCain scare us. I want to know exactly what change Barack is going to implement, and I want to know why exactly I should be scared.
If Barack tells the American people that he has a plan to balance the budget, then dammit, tell me what that is. If McCain tells the American people that we need to be scared of someone/country, then tell me why.
Right now, I just don't see a good candidate. We as Americans have to choose a president here in the next few months...and I'm not sure that we even have someone that we could feel comfortable putting into office.

I don't think that Obama hates Israel or Americans.
But it is clear that he is so hopelessly naive about the way the world works and about the threats that face us that an Obama presidency would be extremely dangerous. The man scares me.
After suffering through Bubba and Dubyah for the past 16 years, I finally want a president I can respect, and who is honorable, and who knows what he's doing. That's McCain. But the majority of Americans are so obsessed with this generic "change" and think Obama is the cat's meow and go for all the superficial appeal, that I fear Obama will indeed be the next president.
Depressing and terrifying.

The strength of a president is, in some ways, in the people he appoints and in the advice to which he listens. That's one of the reasons I so dislike the Bush administration - GW filled it with yes-men and people who all think the same thing he does. One of the marks of a good leader is the ability to listen, and actually try to understand, the views of those with whom he disagrees. Who will Obama listen to, and who will McCain listen to? Those are questions I need to consider. I also think that if Obama is truly as naive as his detractors claim, it will come out in the campaign. And for pete's sake freckles, get a grip, buddy! Obama hates people that live in the US?!?! Could you post anything more absurd?

But it is clear that he is so hopelessly naive about the way the world works and about the threats that face us that a George W. Bush presidency would be extremely dangerous. The man scares me. Fixed that for ya. Imagine how prescient you would have been had you posted 8 years ago....

I don’t think any temptation is needed… After suffering through Bubba and Dubyah for the past 16 years, I finally want a president I can respect, and who is honorable, and who knows what he's doing. Me too. That’s why I support Obama. I want one who at least knows the difference between a Shiia and a Sunni. That ain't McCain... Well, he did graduate 894 out of 899 from the Naval Academy… reason # 49 why the idea of him as president scares me…
