They weren't past the age of consent when it started. And frankly, it is wrong, but as much for biological reasons as any. There was some movie - Blue Lagoon I think it was called? That explored kinda the same theme. When you are caring for and about each other, in a close situation, especially when you first come into sexual feelings, it is easy to slip into "experimentation" - whether or not that is the right or safe place to do that. What if this woman HAD had a child, though? Or even just eventually WANTED a child? Biologically they are brother and sister. What if they hadn't known they were brother and sister (because one or both were given up for adoption) then met and fell in love as adults due to similiarities "built in" as it were. Biology says brother and sister (all the way to first cousins) shouldn't have children. Society pulled in that rule, and in addition to biology you have sociological difficulties.
I don't think what happened was rape, and I DO think sibling experimentation is more common than most people would think (thank god my brothers are 8 and 10 years older - never was an issue for me!) I DO think it was dangerously wrong for them, because it put their sibling relationship and other adult relationships at risk, and made them close to giving up what could be "normal" family life. They would never have been accepted as a couple, and they couldn't safely have children. Aside from all moral considerations - that alone made it bad for them.

Who am I to say it is wrong, if they are adults, both consenting, love each other... They should be able to have any relationship they want, they should be able to get married, society needs to accept it. They are not hurting anyone.

What about kids then, Goods? Wouldn't they be hurting any kids they might have? Brother and sister together almost ensures genetic difficulties!

So what if they don't have children, what if they adopt.

But the risk is there - even with the best contraceptives. Heck, I know a woman who got pregnant when her tubes were tied! Isn't it just ASKING for trouble?

Who am I to tell two people that are in love that they can not be together, that they can not marry? There are risks in everything, kids can be born with defects to any parents.

Since we are comparing it to dog breeding they can just have kids together and kill them until they get a good one.

Aww JC sees right through me.. (as always) My next question for Shey... would you feel the same about gay couples? AND if a hetrocouple has sex they can prevent pregnancy just as well as a male homosexual couple can prevent the spread of diseases. ie HIV.

I don't see anything wrong with gay couples. The spread of diseases is not really any worse than with heterosexual couples, and the harm would only be self-harm. I believe there SHOULD be gay marriage allowed. Gay brothers, on the other hand... ;D
