So, with all the drama, anger and frustration I've been feeling lately, I had to take the moment to appreciate something good going for me right now!!
So, I got my promotion a year ago this past June. Since then, I have been busting my hump to learn as much as I could and show that I am the go-getter kind of person. I have been volunteering for extra responsibility and have put myself on the radar of several key people in our site and a couple in the company as a whole. I found out several weeks ago, a gal in another department who I work closely with has been seeking out approval to get an extra person as she's a 1-person department right now. In finding out that information, I learned she went to my boss and our site director asking that she'd like to pull me over to work with her. She's very admirable of my strengths and dedication. I have developed new processes to be put in place that involve her department and am not afraid to show when something has a flaw and do the work to develop a way to make things operate better. It's flattering to know that she so desperately wants me as opposed to my other team members.
Well, my boss is out of town for a couple days. For several weeks, I have been going to him with problems I have encountered from another department in our building as how what they are doing relates to my departments ability to perform our job effectively. It happens that the Manager from that department was in our site this week. My boss put me in charge of setting up a meeting with him. We had it this afternoon. My team was impressed that I was more prepared for the meeting than our boss typically is and made sure to point it out. The meeting went amazing and is sure to get positive results. I had to send an e-mail to that department Manager after the meeting. He responded and copied his department, my department and my boss thanking me for everything and then asking my boss if he could steal me and add me to his team! It just feels good to be appreciated. Hard work does pay off! YAY!
