Think about it. Think about the people you know. Are they passionate about anything that doesn't have to do with themselves or something they can buy?
People who are passionate about anything other than themselves are dying breed.

I am a passionate person. On lots of fronts. Simply because I am tactful about it (well, most of the time ) doesn't mean I am not. I know some passionate people, but you are right, many aren't. I could name people on this board who are, though. It is where you are looking, and what you are looking for. Shey

I see your point. It is true that many people lack passion for anything outside of their own little world. I think it is a sign of self-centeredness sometimes but more often a sign of ignorance. Americans in general are quite ignorant about the world around them compared with those in other first world countries.
However I do know some people who are very passionate, particularly about social issues. Some express their passion in words, others in actions, or a combination of the two.
I've been talking with a guy (who I've developed quite a crush on) who is VERY passionate about SO many things. It's not only refreshing; it's pretty hot. But it can be exhausting too at times. You need a really strong sense of idealism to retain that level of passion.

Passion is something that often consumes someone's heart, it motivates them, it gives them purpose. But when people are too busy working and spending and filling their lives up with stuff, they forget to listen to their heart and therefore they lack passion. It would be nice if people were more passionate about the well being of their fellow humans rather than their own well being. We spend so much time trying to get what we want that we forget that it is we, the people that will make this world a better place. That will never happen as long as the world revolves around me, me, me.

There we go -- back to disagreeing.
Truth CAN be subjective, depending on what one considers as "truth". Many times it is simply one's perception.

If something is true, then it must be true for everyone, otherwise it can't be called truth. If I say God exists and you say he doesn't, there must be a truth in there somewhere. Either he does or he doesn't exist. So, the truth lies within the reality, the fact, not in what you or I happen to think. Do you see what I'm saying? Truth, by it's very definition is rooted in reality, in fact. If I say that God created humans and Lumpy says that we evolved, then we can both be speaking the truth.

What I was referring to was when people spout their opinions claiming them as "truths" and denying other people's opinions simply because they don't want to see the truth in them as well.

I would reply to this thread, but I'm just not feeling passionate enough about it.

We've become so rich and consumeristic, and entertainment-drowned, that it is considered quite immature to be passionate about anything! We know it all, and there is nothing new under the sun! And I am VERY passionate about this topic! (Even though it will probably be considered weird, lol!) ;D
