Fantastic movie. I saw it twice, actually. I haven't seen a movie twice since I was a kid.
HL nailed it. It makes the original Batman look like a cartoon in comparison. And I say that with all due respect to Jack Nicholson.

Definitely not one of my usual types of movies, but I want to see it if only to swoon over my boy, Heath. It still makes me mad that one of the few smart, hot, and talented men in the world is gone...

I thought his performance was fantastic and he was definitely a talent. BUT one of the few? A lot of fish in the sea, J.

I did not want to go and see it simply because of the hype about his role. I just kept thinking that is can not live up to what they have been saying.
I was sooo wrong. He was astonishing. His facial mannerisms, hand gestures, twitch of his eyes - EVERYTHING fit that role. It was also fascinating that the longer the movie went, I think his ticks got more profound.
Watching it for his performance alone is worth the price.
As for not watching it because of the actors habits? Well Freck, got some bad news for you. Hollywood is made up of liberals my friend - so you probably should not watch any kind of entertainment from TV to movies. Have to get your head out of the sand there my boy and I'm on your side politically and religously....well not quite so far out as you on those issues but we do agree on the ground work issues.

Dark certainly is the singular descriptor I would use. Like you Jules I am/was a huge HL fan and was not sure I would want to see his last movie, the role that perhaps lead to his demise. However, I found it was such an amazing role and delivery that nary a hint of the HL we know could be found (aside from those things he cannot escape - gait, crazy hair and clenched jaw). He embodied the character so well I did not identify this character with our beloved Aussie, so it worked.... But I would not recommend seeing it late on a moonless night and then returning home alone to a empty house

Glad I held out until I could go see it in IMAX. Awesome. The movie is so Chicago it's unbelievable. Other than the Hong Kong scene, everything was shot in Chicago. Even the "hospital" that got blown up. I don't think they used the bit they shot in my neighborhood, though.

It was *totally* chicago! I was reading interviews with my man Christian Bale and he said that the one stunt he *had* to do was standing on the Sears Tower. How freaking bad ass is that?! It was a freaking amazing move. Even the car he crashed (lam) to stop the snitch from getting shot had an IL plate on it. Ah, Chi-town
