Unpacking the Office (Mine & Yours)
These are my books, my memories, equations commited to my memory, Marking in the margins that I made at a younger, more gullible age. These are my philosophers that I cried over, and my misguided lost poets that I read aloud. These are mine.
These are my photos, my manipulations of the light, my flaws I chose not to dodge or airbrush. (Some of these frames are recycled, but they’re still mine.)
These are my errors preserved here…I claim them.
I saw that. I witnessed and recorded it. This is my data. (I don’t care if it’s ever replicated.) It’s mine.
Your shit, by the way, is in the dumpster.

thanks I figured now that I've lived here a year...I guess it was time to actually start to unpack....then discovered some of it wasn't worth any more of my emotional time, so I binned it. I feel much better now, oddly.

omg........i love this!!!
after 4 years, i still have a lot of stuff that was "ours" - stuff that we bought for the house and whatnot. it is so refreshing when i can finally replace something.
he gave me a crock pot for christmas one year, and although i loved it, it finally died a painful death a few weeks ago. i took some sick pleasure in carrying it out back to the trash can and chucking it in. now the next one that i buy will have no memories of him attached to it.

I caught my ex kissing the other woman on my couch.
I still have that same friggin couch more than four years later. I am soooo ready for new ones, but I don't want to spend the money on one right now.
Someday!
