Hmmm well I am on my own little anti-pc crusade myself lately... though I have not really brought it here. Let's just say that sticks and stones will break bones but words will never hurt me AND that diversity is racist while the Melting Pot works. More to follow.
I guess that's what happens when bodies start slappin... while doin the wild thing!

This discussion reminds me of an old buddy of mine. Remember the "It's a Black thing. You wouldn't understand" catchphrase that popped up on bumper stickers and T-shirts back in the late 80's-early 90's? My buddy came up with a catchphrase of his own and had some T-shirts printed up. "It's a White thing. Ask me about it." That got some laughs back in the day.

If that's the way you want to present yourself and you want your children to present themselves (because they will obviously follow your example), that is your perogative. Just be aware that, fair or not, you and they may very well be judged by others to be ignorant and/or offensive.

i KNOW i can be offensive at times. like i said i would never say things that i knew people would be offended by, but i dont understand why its ok for someone to utter a word, any word that i cant, or that i would get in trouble for. it doenst make sense to me. i guess the race thing bothers me THE MOST because chris rock can get on stage and its cracker this or cracker that. or how about the virginia legislator who is trying to ban truck nuts. he is a black man, and while he was making a speech about banning truck nuts, he made several 'deragatory remarks' about the type of white people who would be buying them.. not a motha-fuckin peep... yet the girl on the golf channel made a joke about the other golfers needing to take tiger woods out back and lynch him if they wanted to win. she was suspended. FOR WHAT? if you actually listen to her, you can tell she is not being racist.. she was talking about it with another person, who was also mentioning that the only way anyone else would win is if they beat him up or whatever. so fucking stupid if you ask me.

Just be aware that, fair or not, you and they may very well be judged by others to be ignorant and/or offensive. my children respect others. it is always yes ma'am and yes sir i am a strict southern mother, and my kids would never be allowed to say anything that MIGHT offend anyone. i dont talk like that in front of them. while i think i should be able to say whatever i want, i am an ADULT and that should be my perogative. i would never let my kids talk that way. just like i would never let them cuss, and yes i do cuss too, but i dont in front of them. but i guess i am viewed as ignorant because of the way i choose to talk, and i guess that includes how i am perceived as a mother.

i guess the race thing bothers me THE MOST because chris rock can get on stage and its cracker this or cracker that. The thing I like about Chris Rock is he uses the N word as a derogatory term to describe idiots of his own race. I love it when he uses the term cracka. You cracka-ass cracka! Kills me everytime.

it doesnt offend me at all when he says that.. and maybe he was a bad example.. but he is not the only black person who uses deragatory remarks against white people. if you can sit on here and say that it is fair and just, then you are blind.

OK so the whole lynching thing.... Tiger has been friends with Kelly Tilghman (sp?) for years. He said he took ZERO offense to the comment. IE neither of them saw it as Racist. Al Sharpton who IS a racist and sees everything as racist took "offense". Those who constantly see race in every little thing are the ones who are racist. The term lynching is NOT racist.... to "lynch" someone is to execute them without a trial. Say you are in Tombstone, someone shoots the town sheriff right on the street in front of a crowd. The crowd grabs the guy and hangs him without trial... that is a lynching.

You're talking about vigilante justice. In the south, lynching wasn't about justice, it was terrorism. It was done to remind black folks of their place back in the day. It was the opposite of justice. I get that in your example, the person who said the words meant no malicious intent. That being said, it was a stupid thing for someone in the public eye to say.

that is the problem.. this isnt back in the day! Is it so wrong to be conscious of, and have respect for History? She could have said shot, knee-capped, hobbled, whatever. Lynched was a poor choice of words. I agree with you and Goods that the PC bullshit is out of hand. Peoples' skins are way to thin these days. That being said, it doesn't hurt to be conscious of other folks insecurities to some degree.

So when a white person was lynched it was about justice, when a black person was lynched it was about racism.... I am not saying that some blacks weren't killed by racists. I am just saying not only blacks were lynched AND that the term lynch is not a racist term. Just as niggardly is not a racist term. AND "lynch" was not a poor choice of words! If she was talking about Phil Mickelson, said that if the new comers to the tour wanted to have a chance to beat him they would have to gang up on him, take him out back and lynch him. Would that be racist? No? Why because he is white? Then you are racist. You see things as involving race. Tiger's father was black, his mother Japanese, no what that makes him? An American.

All I'm saying is that history should be respected and considered. Yes, I'm sure that there were blacks who were hung for just cause, just as I'm sure that innocent white men have been lynched at some point. They call Tiger the "Cablanasian" on the Jim Rome show.
