Quit complaining you fat ass. Nice. At least you've quit smoking.....people always gain weight when they first quit. Try to think about how much healthier you'll be in the long run and how much money you'll save.

Try not to enslave yourself to the scale. Base your health on how you feel right now while you are still in the quitting process.
Or, think of the weight gain as a pregnancy. You gain a little weight for something beautiful, then few months after birth, you lose the weight.

Moral of the story: stay off the damn scale. It doesn't tell you anything relevant to what really matters.

Thank you guys. I needed to hear that. I am focusing on the short term effects, and not what is truly important. It is just another step in the process.
This Friday it will be a month. I've made it!!!!!!
Every now and then I get a craving, but I just go to the back of my closet and smell something that hasn't been washed yet and the craving goes right away.

you know, muscle weighs more than fat, so maybe you've just lost some fat and increased muscle mass! i say throw out the scale and just judge by how you feel and how your clothes fit.

I think it's fantastic that you wanted to do something (quit smoking) -- and did it!
I've never smoked, but I know enough to realize it can be sooo incredibly difficult to stop. My dad never succeeded. So, congratulations to you!
As for the few extra pounds -- if they're still around in a few months, you can think about changning diet and excercise (or you can think about it now, but it doesn't seem urgent).
So again, good for you!
