I am so excited. I still am shaking from being on the phone with the property management company...I am moving! After 3 years of being with my parents, the kids and I are getting a place. I found a 3-bedroom apartment in my price range and I can finally afford to get out. It's going to be tight. Things will not be easy but I am doing it! I am so totally excited. I can't believe it...Every time I thought I was going to be able to do this, something huge came up (T's surgery, my surgery, getting in a wreck). Now, here I am.
I've looked at the place twice. I wasn't sure about it the 1st time but just adored it the second. It isn't perfect but it will be a place on our own. With an 8 year old girl and a 6 year old boy, I needed to get them into something where they weren't just climbing all over each other. They will have their own rooms and their own space. I am so happy to finally be able to give that to them!
My lease signing is next Friday. I can start moving in right away. Holy sh!t...This is it!
And, to top it off, I am 28 and honestly have never lived on my own before. Since I've pretty much been in a serious relationship from the time I was in high school, this is a 1st for me. I am almost as terrified of doing this as I am excited. I just had to share!!
YYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm really happy for you, hoodie. I think living on your own will be an excellent experience for you. Your confidence can only blossom living independently. Here's to new beginnings.

Tomorrow is the big day!! I am trying to not be totally freaked out. I am trying not to panic or worry and just enjoy the moment. It's something that should be totally exciting and happy. But, knowing that the ex's don't pay child support and I am figuring this out on my checks is a terrifying thought. We've had the talk that if they don't get their asses in gear, the kids and I could very well end up in the transitional house (a homeless shelter). My ex-husband has promised that now that his life is in order, he's going to be making monthly payments but I can't count on them. If they pay or don't, my income can sway $350-$1000 difference on any given month. That's hard to budget around! So, I'll be living at my means and stretching every penny. If they pay at all, I'll count it as a blessing. We'll see how it goes... But yay, tomorrow is a big day!!!

Very good point...I can't say how greatful I am that my daughter's college education is already funded to any school in the country to which she chooses to attend. She has wonderful grandparents. (Makes me wonder what the F happened to their son!!)

I'm sure you are going to be exhausted with the moving, but if you need a break and sit down, tell us how it is going? I am SO excited for you, you have waited so long!!! Money always works itself out - save what you can when they do manage to pay for when they don't, but enjoy your new independence!

I hope the weather is good for you! After having just moved two months ago, I don't envy you AT ALL. Moving was exciting, but a PIA. My kid do love having their own room though.
Congratulations!

Well, the lady from the property management place was running a little late to get to the lease signing but she showed up and I finally got that done! I started unpacking what was in my car and trying to do some cleaning before I started hauling things in. So far, so good! My friends from work came over this afternoon with housewarming gifts and a bottle of pink champaign to toast my new place and me having my own for the very first time. lol (That still sounds terribly sad to say for me being 28 but that's what happens when you marry young I guess...) I am going to take a break from it all tomorrow evening to go to a birthday party for my "niece." My best friend is going to keep the kids so they can stay for the slumber party and I can go back to moving. And, that means I'll have the house to myself for an evening to unpack and try and relax a little. All of the borrowed muscles I had for tomorrow to move big things have bailed. They all want to wait until Sunday. That's all fine and dandy, beggars can't be choosers, but we're supposed to start staying there Sunday night. I need that stuff in there! And, the weather is supposed to be crappy. It's just disappointing is all. But, I guess it will happen when it happens. I'll get there and get settled one day! The kids hadn't seen the apartment before today. They love it. They are so excited to have their own rooms and so excited to just have somewhere close to our best friends. They were so cute helping to unpack some things and making plans for how their rooms will be. It was adorable. Well, I am really pretty wiped out today and my back is killing me. I am going to go pass out so I can start again early tomorrow. Thank you again for all the kind thoughts. After I get in and settled a bit more, I'll be sure to post some pictures. ;D

Congratulations, Hoodie! You deserve it. I'm happy for your kids too. Sounds like you have some very supportive and happy friends too. Relish in it because you've earned it.

Congrats on your move, hoodie . I am moving in a couple weeks, so i know what you are going through. It is exciting, yet stressful (I should be packing right now!!). I know what you mean by never living on your own. I too was married twice, and went home in between, so i did not live 'alone' (with my daughter) until I was 31. It's a great feeling!! The place is all yours. Sure the responsibility sucks, but there is a great feeling of accomplishment that you can do it alone. My daughter has lived in so many houses already (her dad is on his second place without me, this will be my second without him, and we moved once while married). But she is excited, figuring out how she wants her room. I never moved as a kid
