Ah well, everyone can say whatever they like, only time and hindsight will tell -usually the hindsight of centuries, not months or even years, as policies and laws have long-reaching consequences.
I happen to think Sowell is full of it, and using scare tactics - but again - only time will tell if any of those gloom and doom predictions will come true. I think it is kind of ludicrous to think one president (who is only PART of our legislative structure) would be able to blight us that tragically for centuries - Obama or McCain, either way it might have gone. It is that kind of absurd trying-to-inspire fear and panic rhetoric that tells me he is full of it. Bush et al scuttled us pretty good (and it can't all be blamed on Bush no matter what anyone wants to believe), but it is recoverable, and hopefully the new regime will be able to do it. If not, in four years the choices are new again.
For now - anytime someone wants to scuttle the President-elect, all they are doing is scuttling the US. Time to swallow the disgust, and hope for the best, yes?

The state sure is sad, but it isn't President-elect Obama's fault! He hasn't even taken office yet! AND there are obviously quite a few people who don't share your view that this election went the wrong way - including myself.

There really is no point arguing in a tunnel. The second post in this thread is a response to you Shattered. But you deleted what you posted after my first post so it throws the entire context of my response out of wack for anyone else who is trying to follow the conversation. Sheyd, Freckles and AB. Shattered posted a lengthy response to my simple intial post of "yes we can". Shattered, I guess deleting what you post in a public forum is justifiable if you've had a change of heart and decided to abort your position. Sometimes simply abstaning doesn't work and things end up coming between your lips that you later regret. At least you have a choice to delete your posts and I'll never devote any of my time or effort toward trying to take that away from you.

Why did you delete? It makes the rest look stupid, and confuses people. And arguing in a tunnel? What does that mean, that I wasn't listening, or that I was stupid? Why was it even arguing? I didn't think it was?

I'm pretty sure she means as one of the few conservatives of this board, and how vehemently y'all seemed to react to her opinion right off the bat, she figured it wasn't worth the wasted time. Y'all think you made the right choice and that is that. The other side disagrees. Now back off Shattered just because she doesn't want to argue with your PC, feel good, change based drivel.

Back off? That implies someone was attacking, which no one was - at least not attacking Shattered. On the other hand, the last line of your post is rather attacking and insulting.
Shattered posted an article and said it was too light. I thought it was over-the-top rhetorically, which I said, to which she replied it is just a sad state we are in. My reply to that is still there - again, I don't believe that can be construed as an attack in any way. She replied that before I tell her how to feel I should imagine how I would have felt had McCain won - to which I lightly replied I KNOW how she felt - because I experienced it already. Nowhere in there was there any attack - which is why I think the deletions were unnecessary and confusing - unless it was in itself an attack on the replies.

I've never deleted any of my posts in the past. But in this circumstance, everything I say here is attacked or twisted out of context, so I decided to remove my posts -- because I don't have the energy for this right now, and I never should have posted to begin with.
There is no way you all could understand, or care, how deeply, deeply devasted I am about this election and the state of the country, and I truly should never have responded to begin with. I just couldn't take the gloating self-congratulation and I took the bait. (I'm not saying you intended it as bait, but it had that effect on me.) My mistake.
If it bothers you all so much, and if you feel your posts now look weird on their own, I don't see anyone stopping you from deleting them.
I am in enough emotional pain over a variety of issues, I don't need more grief. Just give me a break, OK?
