J and I are moving to Texas.
My parents moved down there in April, and I've had a really difficult time with being so far away from my family. My brother, sister in law and nephews live down there as well, and so missing Christmas with my family was tough.
J and I have talked about the possibility of moving eventually since Mom and Dad left, and it was just something that we tossed around, but never really made any kind of serious decisions about it.
On Christmas Day, my mom called and J and I both talked to them...had a good conversation until the end when my mom started to cry. I had been doing ok all day until the tears started on her end, because this is the first Christmas EVER that I've not been with my parents if not on Christmas Day, then the day after or something. It was really tough.
I was sick on Friday, and J and I were talking about where we want to be in a year bill wise, and somehow we got to talking about how cold it was, etc. J went and grabbed his cell phone, and on it was a picture message from my mom of my dad, brother and nephew sitting outside with their shirts off because it was so warm down there. J says, that's it, we're moving. I told him not to say it unless he meant it, and he said, no, I'm serious. It's been too tough not having family around, and that's it, we're moving.
So there you have it. We have a couple loans from the wedding that we need to get paid off, and that should be accomplished with the money we get back for taxes in February, if not, soon there after, and we are planning on being out of Illinois no later than Sept 1. My goal is to be out of Illinois by the end of May, beginning of June. It's just going to depend on how quickly we get loans paid off.
We're going down in March to visit, and kind of scope out the area and try and determine where we want to live. We are going to live with my parents for a while first, to be able to save up some money and then we'll get our own place. I figure 6 months at mom and dad's and we should have one hell of a savings account. I know my parents, and they won't let us pay them rent, so.....we should be able to save enough for maybe even a down payment on a house, instead of renting. We'll just have to see.
