I've met the guy once for about 20 seconds. Today while on the phone with her in the background he made a "joking" comment that wasn't nice at all. It was disprectful, degrading, and just plain rude.
I let it be known that I didn't like what was said. Hours later I still haven't gotten an apology. I was told he doesn't like "drama" which leads me to the fact she didn't call him on this and is instead trying to play peacemaker between us.
Yes, she is stuck in the middle, a place she shouldn't be, but this asshole isn't man enough to even apologize when he knows what he said was wrong.

Don't sweat it - there will always be those people.

Well, it just proves what I knew all along. All men are assholes. After the last 24 hours, I'm done.

You may just have to distance yourself from this friend until she realizes what an ass he is. When she does you can be there to help her up again. I had to do that with a friend of mine.

I am going to play devils advocate here for a minute. Here's the thing...Do you really know the guy? You've said you only met him once so very brief. Maybe what he was saying was off-handed and not totally serious. My dad has a very sideways sense of humor. He says things that catch people off guard all the time and some are even offended by him. Some of my mom's friends didn't like him when they first started dating but it wasn't up to them to like him. *SHE* was the one spending time with him and knowing him proved to her it was just his unique sense of humor.
I don't know the story and if the comment that you were so offended by was said in jest or totally serious. But, you can't change her point of perspecitive on him. She's going to have to do it herself. You don't have to be around him and you don't have to like him. What you can do is stand by your friend and if she's happy, support her. If it comes down to him really being that big of a jerk, be there for her. It's a crappy position to be in the middle, I know first hand as I am dealing with it right now. But, I do my best to keep my things with the guy seperate and out of my friendships with my friends and leave it that way. One day, things will work or they won't. If they do, I will hope my friends will love me enough to be happy or they'll be there as a shoulder to lean on. I would hope you can do that for your friend too.

Well, it doesn't seem to be an issue at this point. His true colors have become apparent and he's gone AWOL on her.
Nice guy eh?
