If I use a different user logged into my computer...does the internet history show up in both users? Will the drop menu show what the other users have typed in?

No, not if they log on with a different username. Each user has their own internet folders. That doesn't mean they can't find where you have been going if they really want to look hard enough.

I thought of one more thing. If you password protect your windows logon, then the folders that store your internet history, which are subfolders of "documents and settings" are not visible to a user logged in under another name. But if you do not password protect your log on, then another user could go into windows explorer and look at the history that way.

someone that uses my computer wants to look at porn...I don't want my kid to stumble upon it bc it is in the drop down thing on the address bar. I have been deleting it all and I have asked that person to find another way to spend their time, but he has asked if there was a way for him to look at porn and it not make it so availble for the children.
I am not willing to delete cookies and history daily. That is ridiculus.

actually Steve, you are incorrect with the password protect in a way.. It is true that if you password protect your pc and other people with just "user" rights try and look that they may not be able to see that. But if you have admin rights, you are able to look at everything on the machine

it really isn't a virus Freckles, more like spyware, and adware. But yeah, a lot of porn sites do contain spyware/adware type code and once you have visited those sites, you will start getting popups that are very hard to get rid of.

I am not willing to delete cookies and history daily. That is ridiculus. Can I ask why? It takes all of a minute (less if you do it frequently). And it's probably the easiest solution.

Can you teach HIM to delete cookies, etc when he is done? I agree you shouldn't be responsible for cleaning ANY of his mess after porn viewing - including the one left on the computer! Tell him he has permission to view only if he consistently deletes history/cookies? It really is a simple process...

The issue that this will cause isn't just the cookies/history. If he does visit a site that puts adware on your machine, it will infect the whole machine, not just that user. Your kids maybe surfing and all the sudden getting 20 popup ads for porn. It is not a good idea to allow this person to use a pc that kids will be using at all.
