Are you taking it to the DealerShip ?
Dealers are the Highest Price Places on Earth
Don't you know a *Shade Tree Mechanic ?

i've been taking it to Midas (do you guys have that in the USA?) They've been good in the past - not as high as the dealers, but pretty competitive. the only "shade tree mechanic" I've ever gone to tried to keep hugging me... so I switched to midas I hate cars

Sorry to hear that. You shouldn't be having that many issues on a 2003 model. Toyota's rock.

I wan't to keep it because I'm done paying it in August ... then I can take the extra $300 per month and put it on my credit cards to pay off all these repairs! but what if it keeps being a money pit?? Toyota (or Jetta!) next time.

I'd love to have a newer car with updated features, however, I paid my car off over two years ago and would rather do without the payments then have a few updated luxuries. Hang in there.

That sucks...I can imagine it's frustrating. My vehicle is an '03 as well and it seems that all of the sudden, there are just lots of little issues coming up...None as bad as yours though. Hope that you can get it all taken care of and then working on getting the debt it wracked up paid off too!!

get a second quote....does your midas do price matching with certified dealers?
The prices you are saying sound over the top.

I thought the same thing. i thought your price seemed outrageous, but then i googled and while it still seems a bit high, it doesn't seem unrealistic, but a second opinion is always a good idea.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will look into it - I do feel like I've been royally screwed. But one thing my husband did comment on is that parts are a LOT more expensive here in Canada. My A/C died last summer (another problem with the car.. ) and he knows he could get the part for $200 - and the part is $600 here... so we never did fix the A/C ...

i think you are taking the Car to the wrong Place
Brake pads & Fluid $50.00 to $100.00
Labor $100.00 to $200 at the most = about $200.00 to $300.00 as a High Repair
I would Pay $150.00 Tops
$1000.00 = Bend Over

yes - I think I've been screwed! lol. My husband will probably get his dad to ship him stuff (from Texas) next time round -- but right now, we've only got the one car and we really couldn't afford to go a day without it. The last breakdown, my husband had an interview so he couldn't show up on a bus or in a cab. frickin car. grrr. frickin mechanics.. grr. thanks so much for listening!
