With another shooting at a University, what are your thoughts on gun "free" zones? VT was a gun free zone... Though I don't know the details, I would guess that Northern Illinois University, is also.

My country is pretty much a gun "free" zone. We have a national gun registry and I am all for it personally (just my opinion). I couldn't imagine guns being a "normal" part of life -- but I guess that is a cultural thing -- That being said, there is never a guarantee the guy sitting next to you in lecture hall isn't carrying a gun -- unless there are metal dectors etc at the entrances. Sadly - the same sort of school shootings have happened here - one last year in Montreal, and another many years ago in the same city (that one was a hate crime against women). If some psycho kid wants to kill - he or she will find away. There is something very wrong in our culture which is sending these kids on killing sprees...

I think you would have about the same amount of luck if you tried to make the collages drug free and alcohol free. I agree with CD if people are going to do something there is very little you can do with a population that big at a university.

This is all sort of getting to what I think the main issues is... Gun Free Zones are more dangerous than 2nd Amendment Zones. If someone is going to kill people where is the best place to do that? A NRA convention? The local FOP? Or somewhere that has banned firearms? The law abiding folks leave their guns at home, in the car and since criminals obviously don't care about laws, much less guns laws they can walk into a "gun free zone" do a tremendous amount of damage without the fear of being shot.
Just my opinion. But if the ROTC students, the Reserve students, the NRA students were legally allowed to carry firearms on campus' things could have been different at VT and NI.

bullets should cost about $10,000 or something ridiculously expensive. because if someone really wanted you dead, they would have to pay a ton of money for ONE bullet. and that person would really would have wanted you dead.

People can kill people with many different things. Guns are a great "equalizer", a little old woman of 80 can protect herself from a 20 yr old Meth head.

I am all about protecting little old ladies from meth heads... I think every granny should come equipt with a sawed off shot gun... that way she can just shoot at the mother fuckers with out having to aim.

Me no likey guns. This is a really controversial subject. But, in places where every home has a gun there is little crime because criminals have a higer risk of gettin what they deserve. It evens the score a little. I believe the world would be a happier place without guns. Period. But as long as their are weapons, people have a need to protect themselves.

Only problem with that is little 80 year old is not likely to know how to use that weapon in a safe or responsible manner. She's just as likely to shoot herself or an innocent bystander as she is the 20 year old meth addict. Even worse, let's say she gets freaked out or pissed off at her husband or the clerk at the grocery store or her doctor. More people carrying around more guns is not the answer in my humble opinion.

I do not think it is responsible for society to make our children decide when they should pull a weapon or who they should shoot.
