Has anyone's kids ever had scabies? my son has had this rash going on a month now. It worsened last nite, under his armpit, leg, thigh and scalp.
It's weird how, whenever i went to the Dr, they tell me different diagnosis, (eczema, heat rash, allergy reaction) and then i was researching last nite about the pimply rash on his scalp, and got that those diagnosis are all SIMILIAR to scabies and could commonly be mis-diagnosed for all the above. UGH! i'm going to the Urgent care to get medication to KIL KILL KILLLLL THese mites...but i do hope and pray that I am wrong, and hopefully its something else.
I feel like a hypochondriac, but in all honesty, i just don't think the doctor did thorough examination...it's a military doctor..its like he was in and then POOF! he's out.. ugh.

They need to actually scrape it and look under a microscope to see if it's scabies.... I've heard that tea tree oil works well but you should check with a doc as your Cash is so little and still of the age where everything goes in the mouth (tea tree oil shouldn't be ingested). There are so many skin things that kids get and they all look very similar so you should insist on a skin scrape...if you were near I'd look for you...(I'm a nerd and have a microscope at home). Scabies and lice are hard to get rid of too....uggh. You will have to wash everything or else put it in plastic bags in the freezer if it can't be washed.

If you get to go a military doctor then that means it is free, right? So go. Ask to see a different physician if you can. I know sometimes they can be a pain. If it is tricare, like the Army...you can get authorization to go to a off post triage place sometimes if you need to go at night or on the weekend bc it is cheaper for them that the ER.
I hope he gets better soon.

So i went to Urgent care, the doctor didnt do a skin scrape like i asked, he just prescribed me medication and anitbiotics for Scabies (ugh) and sent me on my way. He didnt even diagnose it scabbies, instead Dermatitis Unspecified. By the time i got home, cash was all tired from the day, and the medication wasnt even ready to pick up yet. so tomorrow, i'll do the treatment, wash ALL my linens and towels... this is such a drag. but at least i got the ANTIDOTE! that's what i really wanted anyways.
thanks guys for your input and concerns. i appreciate it..love YOU!

You can also use Plain Flour hmmm...i'll try that. so it didnt really clear up but...it seems like its getting better. His dad said it usually take 3 days to clear up anyway, (because i kept using the lotion), and that the lotion should only be used once. i am meeting a new daycare provider tonight. hope all goes well so i could transfer him. his current daycare provider is slipping.

Good luck with the new provider. Ask her what their schedule is...she should be able to tell you what they do...and the children should be changing activities every 15-30 minutes or so (ages 3 and under). She should be able to show you a schedule...

you know that was my whole concern with my provider now is: what did you guys do all day?
she's always running errands (personal), running a carpool for the other kids she sits, and what not. I'm a bit perturbed because i pay her (165 cash) every week, for my son to be in a car seat for most part of his day.. I'm like, when does he eat? when does he get peaceful naps?
i'm toally picking up on the red flags right now, especially since my son (18 months) is really starting to develop a personality. And I seriously want him to be stimulated by education stuff, and not Stuck in a vehicle all day, getting mistreated.
It makes me sad that i cannot watch him everyday...i hate working.
and one time, i went to pick him up early from daycare, the bitch was over at pizza hut, down the road, i said "where's Cash?" she said in the car..instead of waiting for her to come back, i drove there to get my son, and then she left two babies and one 4 year old in the car by themselves. MY SON WAS SCREAMING his head off when i got there. i was freaking out because i don't know if those other children did something to him..
i really really hope that i like the new sitter. She sounded nice over the phone.

i think i would have died had i picked any of my kids up like that! i pretty much always get off around the same time everyday, but my daycare is just a few minutes up the street from my work, so i have stopped in unexpectedly on a number of occasions. everyone is always on their best behavior when they expect you to be there, but when you pop by at random times every now and then it can really give you a glimpse of what is really going on. good luck with that!!
and oh yeah, my oldest and my husband got scabies once. the way J was whining i expected it to be terrible, but other than scratching a lot, W didnt seem to notice. the lotion he was given was only supposed to be used once too, it worked but it seemed like it took a while for ALL of the bumps to be gone.

I worked daycare 12-24months is my favorite age to work with.
I always asked my parents to stop by anytime. I told them if they were worried they were more than welcome to stop in and watch me without me knowing because I treat the children the same all the time. I had a very set schedule. Of course, sometimes things happen and the schedule would get messed up, but for the most part...it was the same. I put them down for nap at the same time, fed them at the same time, and did art at the same time. We had time for music. They helped me clean up between activities...they would help bc I made it part of the routine. Definately interview her like you are hiring someone to do a job. Ask her what she does for art time. Ask her what her favorite children's book is and why.
That sitter you are using could go to jail here in TN.

I used to be a nanny....way back when. You can not leave young children unattended in a vehicle like that. I would have flipped out, right then and there.
