That's true, sure, but we did a timeline for crying out loud. We talk about why America didn't do anything until Pearl Harbor. . . We talk about grandparents who fought in the war, we PASSED around barbwire. . . i guess it just goes to show how much they listen to me. . .

fRe, if it makes you feel any better...they don't believe me when i show them that the books on the holocaust are in the history section and not in the fiction section.

I think it's a difficult concept for anyone to accept as real. When I visited Auschwitz and and saw that sign you see in all of the photos and films ("Work Brings Freedom" in German), it felt really surreal. And this was after visiting the Holocaust Museum in DC a couple of times and meeting Holocaust survivors. They listen. It's just really, really hard to accept.

on a lighter note, my overheard comment: "I've never kissed a woman on the lips who wasn't a relative."

a comment that just made me smile... a mom telling her child that "checking out the books is like making a promise...we promise to take good care of them and return them on time so someone else can borrow them...and you should not break a promise." aww...i think that made my day here.

For me, it would have to be a sarcastic comment made about how rude it was for me to pretend to be "playing" in a wheelchair. (which was directed at me in a hospital lobby) because I was seen laughing.
Oh how I wish that was all I did.
Not much fun to be in one for life. Joke was on them. However, I guess I showed them how you can have a life and still laugh and have fun even tho you use a wheelchair.
Rocco will understand

proud mother going on and on to me about what a catch "my Jimmy" is.
her Jimmy is at least 45, has never left home, still works at the grocery store he worked at in high school, and has his mother buy and pick out his clothes for him. if that's a "catch", i swear i'm turning lesbian.
