I run at the gym. For some reason I cant run very far when road running. I can go and go on the treadmill but I can only do a couple of miles on the road. Or maybe it's a mind thing. I do watch tv at the gym whilst running.
Anyone want to be my running buddy?

Yes, I will be your running buddy. Can you join a running group? It is easier to get into road running or on a track outdoors or something if you have someone pushing you.
I joined a running club..and when I was going on a regular basis...they would really kick my @$$ to get moving...and it was fun to be with like minded people.
I am at a slower pace right now because I don't want to do further damage and will by taking up cycling soon once my bike gets here.
Hang in there...it is a great stress release. For me, being next to the water and feeling the rush of the breeze in the wind and listening to my ipod keeps me going.

Music definitely gets me going. But I am SO sick of my playlist right now. I can only run on really fast songs and I cant seem to think of any new ones. There is a huge park not too far from me, so maybe that's the place to go running. I'd love a running group - but I wouldn't know where to find one..

I finally got enough of my wind back that I got a really great endorphin high the other day, after 2.5 miles on the treadmill. Phoenixx, if you want your treadmill running to give you the same workout as outdoor running, you have to give it some incline. Running on a flat treadmill is just moving your legs, not really propelling yourself forward. The incline offsets that effect. I'll be doing this next Sunday: www.shamrockshuffle.com

I haven't run in over a week. My daughter took off with the charger for the Ipod when she went to my parents and I just can't run without my music.

i do not have my ipod with me today but will pm you my song list...

i do listen to a lot of angry music and punk music when i run...stronger the beat the better.

Same here, I like songs with really strong beats. Slow songs just make me cry.
Thanks for the tip, JimB. Thats probably why I can go for longer on the treadmill. I'll try and inch up the incline.

You might ask at the gym... I know at the Y...I can program it to my specific, weight, height and it gives me the workout with a variety of inclines...and increases/reduces the speed... Ask someone !!!

I am down with the freaking buffness. And meeting new people! I wish there were some cool clubs I could join around. I'm thinking I should move closer to my family. Bigger city too. Maybe there will be something to do then.
So what other sports do you guys do?

I enjoy playing softball (coed), volleyball (sandpit), and golf on a regular basis. I am enjoying learning more about soccer though I think I make a much better spectator but it is still fun. I used to play raquetball and tennis but haven't done it for a few years. I like to play basketball with the kiddos at the Y but that mainly involves playing horse.
