What is bothering people is the fact that this preacher, who has been Obama's preacher for many years, is extremely racist and anti white. Most people who attend a church do so because they respect the views of the clergy...
Of course he is not in the campaign now....Obama knew if he didn't cut this guy out his chances were over in this race. Research this preacher when you have time lumpy and tell me if you could see yourself being a member of his congregation for a month much less years....

calling Obama a "spook" sounds pretty racist to me. it's ironic that a person who would do so would refer to Obama as the racist. then again, i'm still waiting for the evidence that Obama and his family would applaud racially charged remarks by the pastor. or that there is a South Africa somewhere in the universe that killed whites to give property to the blacks. or should i just assume that this is all a twisted fairy tale? I have been watching this coverage for the past two days. Do you have a television? You will get all the answers you are looking for by turning on the news. Then you can make your own assessements/judgements.

I'm just responding to what was written in the article. The statement that we brought 9/11 on ourselves is certainly an unpopular and controversial one, but is it racist? Blaming inner-city drug problems on the government is somewhat short sighted perhaps but there is an element of truth in it. In so far as the article goes, I don't see anything that would make me not vote for Barack.

Most people who attend a church do so because they respect the views of the clergy... I disagree. Many times people belong to a parish because of family ties and having a history there. Clergy members come and go throughout the years. People don't generally change churches to follow specific clergy members. I believe that Obama has said that he was married in that church, and his daughters were baptized there. I can also speak from personal experience of having a great deal of respect for a particular priest from my own parish, though I strongly disagreed with some of his views (and told him so in various conversations.) I certainly didn't change his mind, but I still had respect for him as a person and a spiritual leader.

Research this preacher when you have time lumpy and tell me if you could see yourself being a member of his congregation for a month much less years.... I think that's somewhat beside the point. First off, I couldn't see myself being involved in any form of organized religion as I don't believe in a supreme being. Secondly, I am a firm believer in the seperation of church and state. I don't see how Obama's preacher's beliefs have any impact on what sort of president he will be. This just seems to be yet another example of the media turning molehills into mountains.

lumpy I'm with you there....i don't care for organized religion either. However, if i did, there is no way i am going to sit in the pew week after week supporting a minister who is a known racist.
The sermons I have seen clips of over the past few days of this guy makes Al Sharpton look like Mister Rogers.
This minister is revolting. I wouldn't care if my great grandparents thought he was the best thing since the ballpoint pen, there is no way I could respect Obama if he respects this man as a person and/or a spiritual leader.
The man is a hate monger and it just disturbs me that Obama was a member of his congregation for a very long time.
I am still going to research this further before I form a final opinion because I don't like to jump on bandwagons and like to be informed, but I think it is something that shouldn't be tossed off to the side as having no merit whatsoever. Church and state might be separate but I am not voting for someone whose religious beliefs might interfere with the way they run the country...that is one reason I didn't vote for Bush.

I have been watching this coverage for the past two days. Do you have a television? You will get all the answers you are looking for by turning on the news. Then you can make your own assessements/judgements. The hell you will. You will get the corporate political establishment's version of NEWS, which consists of inflamatory and negative sound bites outside of any meaningful or orginal context. If you think you are "getting news" by watching television, you are sadly mistaken. Case in point: Freckles watches the NEWS all the time. Him and his Black Panters.

I don't look to one source to educate myself. The news gives me the topic then I do my own independent research.

I watch FOX News They are the best I have been keeping an eye on this story for days. Watching it play out on CNN, MSN news, PBS news and even the local news and papers here in Chicago. All I know is that is that Foxnews is the only channel who is actually putting it all out there for the world to see when it comes to Obama. Has anyone else mentioned that Obama's church has actually given a lifetime achievement award for anti-white and anti-Jew hater Louis Farrakhan?Or that his preacher and Farrakhan travelled to Libya to meet with dictator Khadafi? Has anyone else mentioned Obama's affiliation with Bill Ayers from the 60's radical and terrorist group Weather Underground, who as recently as 2005 has spoken the same words as Obama's pastor did in regards to 9/11. This is just the latest coming-out in a long line of corrupt and shady people that Obama has supported, endorsed, cut deals with or worked with in his past. This list is getting way too long for him to become president.

He is a Wolf in Sheeps Clothing I don't think I have been ever so afraid of anyone becoming president in my life. Obama talks change and cleanup of the system--yet he supports typical Illinois politics, belongs to a seperatist church and has endorsed and cut deals with several Illinois crooks in the past whom have ruined this state. Obama says it is not about experience, but judgement--yet he doesn't have the judgement to NOT make shady land deals or accept campaign donations from a crook like Rezko. He doesn't have the proper judgement to disavow himself from a hater like Pastor Wright, or the judgement to avoid endorsing corrupt locals like Stroger, Blagojavich, Giannulias or Dorothy Tillman.
