Mine remain, along with my wisdom teeth and appendix. In fact I am pretty much in cherry condition, straight off the show room floor. Minus a few scars and miles.

I still have mine.
my husband had his removed along with his uvula.... he has sleep apnea and they shaved out everything from his throat to create a larger air passage. His tonsils were the size of golf balls.

The boys had their tonsils and adnoids removed due to sleep apnea and allergies. It has helped both of them tremendously. My girl and I both still have ours.

if you think that removal will help then i would say go for it. trust your instincts, rocko. you're a good mom, you know what your kiddos need.
is there any risk other than the operation and recovery? i don't think i've ever heard of some long term or future concerns .. .

Tonsilitis can result in endocarditis whch is a serious heart problem, however the main reason to keep them is because they are an important part of the immune system.

Tonsilitis can result in endocarditis whch is a serious heart problem, however the main reason to keep them is because they are an important part of the immune system. That's interesting. I never knew that. Ironic because I hardly ever get sick. If I still had my tonsils maybe I'd be superwoman or something.

The people I know that don't have them swear they stayed sick up until they had them removed...including my husband and best friend. I have heard that from so many people.

I still have mine. I wish I didn't. Every doctor when I was little was scared to take them because they are HUGE and every doctor I see now can't believe that they are still in there...Oh well!
I had T's taken out last year. Really, it wasn't much of a choice. I don't know if any of you remember me posting about him being so terribly sick. We kind of had to hunt and peck at what was wrong. We still never got a diagnosis. But, taking his tonsils out has seemed to help. Weird mysetery condition that was complicated by his tonsils. Awsome. lol But, he did AMAZING with the surgery. I can't believe how well he did. The doctor actually removed them by laser instead of cutting and stitches. He was 5 when he had them out.

My daughter was sick 18 out of her first 21 months. I finally got sick of it and demanded to see an ENT. He took one look and scheduled her to have her tonsils and adnoids removed. Said she had tonsils the size of New Jersey in there.......they actually touched in the back of her throat.
Hasn't been sick since. Best thing I ever did for her.
