settlement was exactly as proposed in the separation agreement prepared by my attorney. for such a messy split (to put it mildly), we were both very cordial and cooperative, which made it better. my attorney was late, so while we were waiting i initiated small talk, inquiring after his well being and his family, which broke the ice. i didn't feel any of the anger or resentment i expected to feel. it was a good thing.
he couldn't look me in the eye until we were saying goodbye and good luck, and i knew he was then on the verge of tears, but was holding out until he raced out of the courthouse as soon as he could. surprisingly for me, i'm not feeling teary at all. just at peace. i feel like closure was achieved. chapter closed.

Congrats!! My divorce being final left so many feelings, but the main one was a great burden lifted from my shoulders. My ex was really upset by it...he didn't come to court and was remarried the same week.

And I was making a joke about your "English Degree"... in other words you would not know how to spell a name that is Italian, German or Spanish... Since you don't have a degree in those languages... I will beg forgiveness from all who have suffered from my latest attempt at humor.
