.....was killed in Iraq early this morning.
David was an EOD specialist (something to do with bombs) and had gone out on patrol with his platoon because they were a man short. He was inspecting a bomb that had not gone off, and it exploded, killing him instantly.
He leaves behind a wife and a 2 year old son.
He was 2 weeks away from coming home and having a desk job where he wouldn't have to leave his family anymore.
Before he left, he arranged it so that his wife would get a dozen roses and a hand written card from him every month that he was away. She just received the card and flowers earlier today before she heard the news that he was gone.
Please keep them in your prayers. David's mother is like a second mother to me, and I don't know if you guys remember Penguin from Ojar, but this was her oldest brother. One of her other brother's married my girlfriend L.
I feel at a total loss. I know that there is nothing I can do to comfort them, and I think that bothers me the most.
Anyways, just please pray for them, that they find peace.

I do remember her - I met her... I am so sorry! 2 weeks from coming home! Tell her they are in my thoughts, please, I know it won't mean much since we only met once... but I really feel for them!

I was so sorry to read of such a tragedy. Two weeks? I can't even imagine how many things and scenarios must be running through their minds right now.
While it's sad he'd arranged for the roses, it's beautiful at the same time. It speaks of how much love and passion they had for each other and the life they planned together.
I just don't know what to say. I don't think there is something someone can say, but they will be in my thoughts and prayers as will you, Angelbaby. I know what a wonderful friend you are and a great person Penguin is. We know you are hurting so much too.
God bless...
