Marriage is a civil contract. Otherwise, you wouldn't need a court to dissolve it.
I'm all for allowing same-sex marriages. They should be able to have the same rights and responsibilities as any hetero couple. Let the churches do as they please as far as whether or not they let them have the ceremony in the church, but marriage in 21st century America is a CIVIL CONTRACT. People shouldn't be discriminated against because of sexual preference...

Life is already difficult without having our government making us unequal. They have done it for years. First with slavery, then with voting, then womens rights. Gay marriage is the civil rights issue of our generation. I think it is extremely important for everyone to have equal rights, including the right to enter into a same sex marriage. Gay people are citizens, tax payers, voters, etc. etc. They deserve the right to enter into a marriage that will afford them the same benefits as other married couples.

I think I should be able to have 100's of Wives There in lies the problem with gay marriage. You cannot allow it, while continuing to exclude the others. The polygamists will then complain that they should be allowed to have as many wives as they want since gay people are allowed to get married. Next thing you know, Freckles has his 100 wives. Then the weirdos out there are going to claim that if gay people can get married and poly's can have as many wives as they want, then why aren't they allowed to marry their brother or sister if they want to? Why stop there? Then the ACLU is going to get behind pet owners, and say that if gays, poly's and relatives can get married...why can't a guy marry his cat so she can have health insurance as she nears age 12? Allowing gay marriage is gonna open up a whole other can of worms and cause a lot more problems than people realize. If you allow it, then you are going to have to allow every other possible marriage or civil union.

I do have to say that I am not against plural marriage. However, I am against old geezers being able to take child brides.

The biggest problem with marriage is that it's always the same damn sex. Until it's no sex.
I say if someone is dumb enough to get married then they ought to be able to.

hmmm....yeah....well.... Lets see here. I am for it.
My father decided after 15 years of marriage to my mom that he would come out of the closet. I wish he could have found happiness again before he died.
My ex husbands mother, my kids grandmother, has been openly gay for a VERY long time now. Her and her life partner have been together over 17 years and are still going strong. They are both on the mortgage/title and they buy everything together. The cc accounts are in both names and so forth. The only thing really missing is the paper saying that they are married..

Did my mom know? Not at first, but by the time that he left, yes she knew.
My ex's mom... I don't think his dad knew at all
