People who say that are looking at marriage as an agreement with God and God doesn't approve of same sex marriage.
I will not give my opinion on it.

Everyone has their own religious beliefs - I wouldn't say they shouldn't! However, each person's religion or lack of it is THEIR OWN. To enforce that on other people/other couples/the law - that is when I tend to disagree with it.
S'far as I am concerned, same-sex marriage would be good. Why should I get the right to do something just based on my heterosexuality, that someone else shouldn't get to do, based on their homosexuality?
Plus, stability IS good for families, and children. So, allow that stability. I am all for same-sex marriages, I hope they do get moving on it sooner rather than later. And hey, for the homophobes- that is just two more people who are official and can't hit on you! LOL!!!

I think we heteros already did a fine job of undermining marriage all on our own. Maybe we can learn a thing or two from the gay community about how precious an official and public commitment like marriage really is. If those against it have a problem with "marriage" used in a non-religious sense, they ought to be out protesting all civil marriages -- not just same-sex ones.

religion doesnt belong in politics at all. It sure doesn't, unfortunately the majority of registered voters don't agree, therefore we end up with the bible thumping king of incompetance who we fondly know as GW Bush who has run this country into the ground. The religious presidents will always get strong backing from the Bible Belt. What a country.

Same sex marriage has been legal here in Canada for a while... s'far as I know, the insitution of marriage hasn't been undermined at all. The good thing is that these life couples enjoy the same benefits (re: property, health insurance benefits etc) that all other married couples do.
Live and left live I say as far as a legal marriage goes.

I shared an apartment with 3 other girls my senior year in college. I was the only straight one. Trust me, there is PLENTY of drama in same-sex relationships too.

Honey, you do realize those hot lesbians would not be in to you? You have too many bits attached. I know there would be lots of drama, too - there is in all relationships. I was just joking, anyway... I do like men, and am pretty happy with Harry. lol

The institution of marriage is not institution at all... especially when over 50% of marriages end in divorce. We live in a country that watches shows like "Who wants to marry a millionare"... HA! I think that gay people have every right to get married, share property, raise children, inherit from a deceased spouse, pay taxes, etc., etc.... in short: THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE AS MISERABLE AS THE REST OF US STRAIGHT PEOPLE!!!
Here is an example of why they should be able to be married:
A couple lives together for 30 years. They share household expenses and they care for one another. Because they "LEGALLY" can't be married, they buy a house in only one of their names. They live in the house for many years. They pay the house off. They are getting older and one becomes ill (the one who actually leagally owns the property). That person eventually dies, leaving their life partner to deal with the family memembers who are now around (for the first time in many many many years) trying to "claim" next of kin and rights to the property. It is a legal NIGHTMARE!!!

I think they should let them get married. I don't see how it personally effects anyone, but those involved. It allows people to have insurance thru their SO, just like the rest of us. I just don't see why people dont' want other people to be happy.
