Hi ... just wanted to share that I am getting married on Saturday, at 3:30 p.m. and I am uber-excited right now!!
We have managed to plan a beautiful ceremony, in a church, with a nice reception. The ceremony is a combination of tradition and original components. V and I will say some of our own vows.
His boys are coming with us, and it is about fourteen hour trip from here. The reception will be at my sister's house, with beef-on-the-bun, and a little program. I think it's going to be wonderful .... it is very personal, with about twenty to twenty-four people coming.
I found a dress, a used, home-made prom burgundy prom dress that fits beautifully, and gold sandals to match.
My sister has helped decorate, is doing music, and is putting on the reception. My Grandpa is giving me away, My Grandma is bringing dessert. We bought a cake at the local supermarket that is just a cake, not a wedding cake, per se. Including travel costs, I am estimating that we will probably spend about $900 on this wedding, with family and friends helping out with different aspects of it.
I am crazy about this man ... and look forward to marrying him. The breakup this summer has transformed both of us ... we appreciate what we lost in each other, and are both committed that neither one of us wants to ever go through the hell of a divorce again. For us, it works better to marry than to live together and we are definitely going to be together, either way.
So, thanks to all the Hugthat peeps that helped along the way during the really painful times. Those times have brought me to where I am today ... I learned so much about myself and what makes a relationship work. And I will continue to learn -- I"m sure the learning is just gettin started, in fact. Cheers!!!
p.s. And he treats me like gold, now. It is possible for people to change. He had gone through a very bad divorce, and then a breakup with a girlfriend and when I met him, he was lashing out at me. Now that he has healed a lot from that, I see the wonderful man that he is.
