i think it's pretty funny, but i can see how some people might find it offensive because it's sort of mocking the crucifixion of christ, which is pretty hard core.

It's all in the eye of the beholder, I spose. I showed it to our in-house chaplain here at work. He chuckled.

I do not find that offensive because I do not think those chocolate crosses they sell at easter are very spiritual. I find it to be a witty joke that is intermingling some of the commerical thigns we see at easter time. We live in such a materialistic world and that almost is a good representation of it.
I would be offended, however, if someone was burnign a bible in front of a church for malice, or a cross in someone's yard. Those things are really horrific.
But that cute little candy gif? Nah, not offensive at all and much of my family are christian and they would laugh at it too.
fRe, definitely DO NOT watch southpark if you find that photo offensive!

The most offensive aspect of it to me is that it is a Palmer product. Their chocolate sucks salty donkey balls.

I'll play persecutor just for fun.
From a humanistic perspective, that image is offensive because it minimizes the suffering and death of a human being. For the same reason we don't make shrinky dinks of holocaust victims, or a BB gun target with MLK Jr's face, it is wrong to create a candy version of a man being nailed to a cross, suffer, and die while others watched and mocked.
From a religious perspective, it is offensive because it is mocking one of the cornerstones of the Christian faith. It would be equally offensive to mock one of the crucial aspects of any religion.
How's that?

It sort of offends me but then again, I have gotten a thicker skin since being involved on forums.
I wouldn't post something like that myself but I wouldn't get my panties in a bunch over it either. I guess I am on the fence!

I have a similar scenario which I wonder if others would consider offensive or not. True story.
Mother sends out Christmas cards with a photo of her newborn daughter on them, with the phrase "Come Let Us Adore Her."
Offensive or not?
Does it make a difference if the mother is atheist? Does it make a difference that she sent the same card to everyone, including family members who are conservative Christians?

However, I certainly understand how it could be offensive, and I think that's a pretty stupid thing to do on the mothers part, Christian, atheist or something else. She should know better.
