They become dangerous when people make them that way.

I suspect the woman was trying to spank her child, and the dog was trying to defend the child from harm. Sad situation, because the dog probably was trying to be good.

Chihuahuas and other small dogs are more likely to bit you they just don't cause as much damage when they bit.

While I do think it often depends on how they are raised, I do believe there is something in the brain chemistry of pit bulls that make them more succeptible to "snapping" than most other breeds. When my neighbor got a pit bull puppy, I was pretty nervous and wouldn't leave my dog in my yard without my being there when that puppy was out, in case it somehow got through the fence and attacked my sweet little 12 lb dog, who would have no idea how to fight off an attack. (I only saw the puppy for a few weeks -- they must have gotten rid of it...)

I had a pit bull. His name was Tito. He was 6 weeks old when I brought him home. he was the BEST snuggler and wonderful with people and my other dog. He did however have really bad anziety and would FLIP OUT. I left him in a vinyl crate for 3 hours...he ATE his way out of it. I don't mean chewed I mean he actually ATE the crate.
My neighbors had a lab and he ripped two ofhis teeth out bc he wanted to get thru the chain link to hurt the lab. I always took this dog out and socialized him and he did fine on a leash, but leave him out in the yard and he was insane with anxiety bc I wasn't there.
When he was 2 I had my first human child and he was fine with him until he started walking around. Tito would show teeth when the baby came near me. I sent Tito to live with my mother. 3 years later when the kids were bigger I took him back for a trial run. He did fine with the kids he understood his place ont he food chain was below the children.
One day about a year later...he decided to come after ME with full teeth and growl. I did not provoke him. He was lying asleep and I walked over to him. He woke up and saw me. Then he came after me. I went back at him worse than him after me.
I crated him and took him to be put to sleep the next day.
This dog was raised right, but he emotions and jealousy and need to be #1 was too much to control.
I love that dog still, but I will NOT own another pit bull/ American Staffshire terrier.

I saw a bad situation
A Young Couple had a Dog bigger than the Woman
And they just had a Baby
I don't know what kind of Dog it is/Was
But if that dog ever got mad at that child or the Married couple
There would be a horrible thing happen

I have bulldogs. They are all wonderful and know they are below the humans in ranking. They are great guard dogs for the yard and lovely pets.
