think of the flip side... no one you have to cook for and clean up after... no one's bills to pay but your own... no one to nitpick at you and complain about everything you are doing wrong... no one's crazy ass problems and messes to try and fix, smooth over, explain to other people.... no one's pushy mother calling you every day... no one hogging the remote watching Motorcross or Nascar There's alot to be said for being on your own ;D

I think a dog offers the best of both worlds.

I'm sorry, Frecks.
Yes, it does get old. I hear ya.
Do you still have your cats? I have two -- and no matter what, they are always happy to see me. And they give me love.
I know cats (or a dog, as jules mentioned) don't make up for that special someone, but I, for one, in my loneliest moments, have always been grateful for my furry four-legged children.
I can't recall whether you'd written about this or not -- what's the situation with meeting people through your church?

Freckles, I know and can feel exactly where you are coming from. You got used to that feeling, when you were married, of having that someone be there when you walked through the door, saying hi, giving you a hug and asking you how your day was.
When it's gone, you miss it for sure.
But instead of focusing on what was in the past, and what you miss...try to focus on everything great about how your life is now. I bet it is pretty easy to figure out some things that you like about your life these days.

Yes, seriously Frecks -- try a different church. If you don't want to leave your current one, maybe you can add another church, or alternate Sundays.
