What is up with all these little creepy crawly things that can hurt you?
Three scorpions in less than 24 hours, one of them stung me while I was laying on the couch. Last night there was a baby rattle snake curled up next to my garage.
Uggg, I hate this.

I'm sorry you hate the desert so much. I lived in Tucson for 4 years and, for the most part, loved it, but the most I had inside my house were geckos who called to each other. Plus the occassional bird that came in the back door.
I did hate all the things that can stick you. It seems every plant out there has some needle or spine on it. If you get a cactus needle stuck in you, shave it with a razor. Other than that, I think you are going to have to adapt and talk to people around you to see what they do.

I know what to do, this just isn't the life for me. Never heard of using a razor for cactus spines. Glue works better. Slather a good layer on and peel it off when it dries.

I wish I had known it when the ex fell from a ledge into a Prickly Pear Cactus. He was covered in spines from his skinny bum to his knee. I would have loved to rip that glue off with all the hair he has on his legs.

There were scorpians where I lived at in AL. I had the pest control guy spray a 2 foot wide section around the perimeter (spelling) of my house. After that I only found dead ones. BLECK.
I heard that mothballs help keep snakes away....they really stink though.
