I am at the end of my rope concerning my son, he is 11 and really going through a rough time. I know that puberty and hormones are playing a part.....the problem is that he is pissed at the entire world. There is nothing that anyone can do or say to make him happy. He is disrespectful and very confrontational with everyone, especially his sister and I.
For example, last night he and I sat down to watch a movie. I explained to him that I no longer will tolerate his disrespect-fullness and warned him that if he said ANYTHING out of line, he was going to be sent directly to bed. I also told him that the next time he tells me he hates me, I would take away his XBox, each "I hate you" equals a day without XBox. Within 15 mins, he was nasty to his sister and told me he hated me several times. With that I sent him to bed, and that sent him into a total meltdown.
I can no longer deal with him and his total lack of respect. I just don't know what else I can do.........please give me some suggestions.
Thanks!

www.yourfamilyclinic.com/ODD/ODD.htmlEvery child, particularly pre-teen, is oppositional - this helps, if you can manage to do it. I think it is harder to do than most realize - kids DO know how to push our buttons!
