It's going to be a long night, please keep my parents in your thoughts and prayers.
They own a cattle ranch outside of a very small town. The river runs through their property, and is about 200 yards from their front door. It is expected to break banks about 3 AM.
If the flooding is as bad as expected the flood gates at the north end of the town will be closed and no one will be able to get in or out.
This could be very, very bad.

oh man, that is bad news....are you going to stay up sandbagging or just try to move the cattle and your folks to the highest point? I will be thinking of you and hoping you all keep safe.

How they doing finding? I had a great uncle with a farm... his house was on an island for a week till flood waters went down. It didn't seem to bother him much, he was an old KY tobacco farmer.

They are safe for the moment. The flood waters have receded. They have a few head of cattle that are stuck on the other side of the river. They have food for a few days, but unless the river receeds there will be a problem. I'm three hours away and not much I can do. If I go there will be a good chance I can't get out with the kids. The ranch and town are located in a canyon so flooding is really scary. Half of the town was wiped out in the last big flood. There is one storm after another predicted for the next month. So it is a wait and see what is going to happen.

maybe they should stay with you for a few days In a perfect world maybe. The cattle and horses need to be fed daily, and we live 3 hours from where my parents do, and quite frankly the kids and I don't like my parents. We tolerate them because they are family.
