The only problem I have with the people who talk about 'wives submit' is that normally, they completely dis-regard the role of the husband. More verses talk about the husbands part of the dance then is spent on the wife. That tells me that men have the problem not the wives. If men treated their wifes with respect, adoration and complete willingness to make her secure (within reason folks) then I think most woman will respond appropriatly and the issue becomes mute.
So, I'm glad these marriages lasted 50 years - I so wish mine could have. I ended up in a psych hospital trying to please my wife and after one visit, I decided that that was my limit.
However, most women do not have the lack of emotional capability that mine had. She was a very good mother she just didn't know how to respond to a husband.
My two cents.

jc, if you are apologizing to me...you have NOTHING to apologize for. i have been told that i am a bit "punchy" today... tax season is here and i am up to my ears with questions... it is no excuse if i appeared rude to you. i just had a debate with someone that would rather shop at Borders than use our facility. you have my most sincere apology that i can offer. What if some people want to own a copy of the book? I prefer to buy reference materials so that they are always there if i need to go back to them.

jaded-
i would agree.
i have one of the largest reference sections in my own personal library. i, too, prefer to own my own copy but use the library for other sources that i choose not to purchase...that is me. i am in no way saying that it is the same for everyone else nor am i telling them to.
again, i am all about freedom. a LOT of people do not enjoy using the libraries. we have a lot of materials that stretch beyond the books...
do what you want, that is what life is all about.

Hmz , been there , done that.
Be very careful when a man says he wants a submissive woman. Learn about the why's.

Hmz , been there , done that. Be very careful when a man says he wants a submissive woman. Learn about the why's. See, I'm the exact opposite on the whole "submissive wife" thing. My current ex was just that when we married, to the point of asking permission to use the damned phone to call her parents. I cured her of it, though. It took over two years, but no one can call her submissive now...

I am a little curious as to how you cure someone of submissiveness... and I am not being sarcastic or making a joke. Did you have to correct these tendencies day after day?

The very first fight we had was about that damned phone. I couldn't BELIEVE that she actually thought she needed my permission... Basically, it took time and patience and her finally becoming comfortable with the idea that I wasn't going to clamp down on her for having an opinion about something like so many other people in her life had done.

How so? You recognized that she needed to be independent... without using her weakness to benefit yourself. You enhanced her quality of life and self worth... and didn't use her to your advantage.

Well, to be fair - I've always preferred the women in my life to be independent with attitude. Anything else is just boring...

I have always preferred strong , independent women.... alas I believe I have mistaken anger and selfishness for strength and independence.

Well, I think many submissive women don't go around advertising it Freckles as it isn't as socially acceptable as it once was. I like Submisive Women I have never met one
