Surely you meant to say something to the effect of, "Guns make it easier to commit violent crime."
Obviously, people cause crime, not guns. Or knives. Or any other object.
(No, I am not a pro-gun nut. At all. But I also think it's dangerous to go too far in the opposite direction.)

I guess I don't see this as the huge milestone that it's shown as in the media. Yes, the DC gun ban was rescinded. Yes, you can now have a gun 'in your home'. If the police find a gun on your property they now remove it from the premises, give the owner the proper procedures to register the weapon, go test fire and run it against the db of weapons used in criminal acts, etc. Some folks might see this as an invasion of privacy of some sort.. There are currently 2 licensed gun dealers in DC. One has publicly come out and said he will not sell any weapons in the district. Not sure about the other, and last I heard there hadn't been any new applications from dealers. Since you have to purchase handguns in the state you reside in (IIRC) you still essentially can't purchase a weapon in DC. I'm ambivalent about the decision, it's not like the gun ban kept violent crime out of DC. Case in point: wtop.com/?nid=596&sid=1430844

If a criminal thinks you may have a gun he will DEFINITELY have one. That makes everyone safer right?

Don't let em fool you, they have guns anyways. Would you rather be without one if it came down to protecting you and your family?

Usuly Petty Criminals attack in Packs because they are Cowards
So a 12 Gauge Shotgun is good or a Thompson Machine Gun

Care to give stats on how many times that works out in favor of the legal gun owner? I mean, it sounds good, but how many times does it actually help? I don't base my beliefs and opinions on the opinions and beliefs of others. I was born in a free country, which by the way many of my ancestors, including my grandfather who recently passed away, shed blood to make sure that I and my children would retain those freedoms. I have searched my own heart and mind honestly and deeply lately and come to conclusions about many things. I do not, in any way shape or form, agree with the government (in any way shape or form), telling me the following things: ~how to raise my children (ie discipline) ~that I cannot protect my family provided that I am living my life in a honorable manner and taking care of my bills, responsibilities, children and my family, why should anyone tell me how to conduct other aspects of my personal life? I fear that we are handing too much of that over to a nanny type situation and I for one am glad that this was not the case here. So now you know. ;D
