Agreed, but why not open some drilling areas so that we do not deplete our backup supplies. That is kind of like saying, "Dont plant a garden when you can just get your veggies out of the pantry" Your metaphor doesn't hold. It's a mighty expensive garden to plant, especially when we know it'll only bear fruit for a very short time. No point in buying time for alternative energy exploration if we're just going to allocate those resources to finding more oil.

I like the idea of opening up our reserves, but I think it should be done with the idea of slowing the hike, not stopping or reversing it. Plus, we ARE still drilling, and there are lands owned and available for drilling that aren't being tapped yet, so it really doesn't make sense to open up still MORE areas, especially where there can potentially be so much environmental damage. There is nothing like increasing costs to help make the shift to more reasonable things - did you see that link I made to the solar car race? I want one of those things - looks cool!

I am working on updating someone's list right now of rare books that he has to sell. Perhaps you would like to buy them from him.

OMG, that is not nearly enough! He has some first editions and all are in good if not excellent condition...
The least that one would go for is $35-40.00.
