Plus, we ARE still drilling, and there are lands owned and available for drilling that aren't being tapped yet! I did some research on this very thing and surprise surprise what did I find out? I learned that part of what you said is correct, they do have untapped reserves. BUT, a very big difference is that the reason they are undeveloped is because they do not have the license to develop ONLY to explore. Around the 1970 - 1980 time frame, the gov opened up areas for exporation but NEVER gave the permit to develop. So, please stop saying this bit about all this untapped oil because that just is not true. Something to think about ---- or not.

That isn't the land they are asking for, permits, though. They want to drill in the ocean. Which will not be available in a reasonable amount of time. There is technology available NOW, and more in the process, to switch away from NEEDING to drill. Lets put more money into that and see what happens instead of taking unnecessary risks.
